Welcome to 2015 - the Year of the New Forms

Tue, Jan 06, 2015 at 9:40AM

We are diligently preparing for significant changes to the real estate settlement process as certain provisions of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform law of 2010 go into effect, including new Truth-in-Lending and RESPA Integrated Disclosure forms, and increasing oversight of the fiscal reporting and security policies of title agents by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the government agency responsible for regulating the entire financial industry.

Southern Title has spent the last two years developing policies and procedures that comply with the strict new standards for title companies as well as the Best Practices requirements for lender approval.

Over the next several months, we’ll be highlighting those changes and our compliance efforts to keep you informed and aware of what to expect when you are buying or selling real estate.

We will launch our education series with the first of our CFPB Prep Webinars on January 15 at 1 p.m in partnership with one of our underwriters,  Title Resources Guaranty (TRGC). We’ll provide log in information in the next few days, or click here with any questions.
