Southern Title President Named to Title Insurance Study Advisory Council

 

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., September 30, 2008) – Shelley Stewart, CLC, president of Southern Title Holding Company, was named to the Florida 2008 Title Insurance Advisory Council, which was established by HB 937 and signed into law by Governor Charlie Crist in June.

Appointed by Senate President Ken Pruitt, Stewart is one of three title agents in to state appointed to the Council. The Council is comprised of 21 members and was created to complete a comprehensive analysis of the title insurance delivery system and after 18 months, make recommendations for legislation to promote a sound, stable and safe system for real property transfers in Florida. The Council is tasked with delivering a final report by December 31, 2009.

Stewart has been president of Southern Title Holding Company, LLC and Southern Management Services, LLC since 1995. Late last year, she was named Agent’s Section Chair of the Florida Land Title Association’s (FLTA) at the Association’s annual convention in Bonita Springs. She chaired her first meeting at the annual mid-winter meeting in Tallahassee on February 5-7, 2008. She is slated to become FLTA President in 2010.
