(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., February 8, 2007) – Shelley Stewart, CLC, president of Southern Title Holding Company, was named 2008 Agent’s Section Chair of the Florida Land Title Association’s (FLTA) at the Association’s annual convention in Bonita Springs in November. She chaired her first meeting at the annual mid-winter meeting in Tallahassee on February 5-7, 2008.
As Chair of the Agent’s Section, Stewart is responsible for representing all title agents in the state of Florida and advocating their concerns to the state’s underwriters and insurance regulators. She will chair the quarterly meetings of the Agent’s Section and represent critical matters at the joint section meetings, where communication and consensus building between agents and underwriters is the primary objective. Stewart served as Zone II Vice President in 2007.
As the presidency of FLTA rotates between agency and insurer members each year, Stewart is slated to become FLTA President in 2010, following the term of incoming Insurer Section Chair, Alan McCall.
A state chapter of the American Land Title Association (ALTA), FLTA is a non-profit trade association that is dedicated to serving the land title insurance industry promoting the shared goals of education, professionalism and ethical standards. Members include title insurance underwriters, title insurance agencies, abstractors and associate members.
